Calendly vs Cal.com: Cal.com Is Cheaper, Calendly Is Simpler, and Sharrk Books Into Both
By Sharrk Team · October 15, 2026
Cal.com is the cheaper pick and its free plan does more, while Calendly is the simpler, more familiar choice once a team needs round-robin and lead routing. Either way, Sharrk books jobs straight into both (or into its own built-in calendar) while the caller is still on the line, so the calendar you pick matters less than how fast someone fills it.
Calendly vs Cal.com: what does each cost?
Here is what each company lists on its own pricing page today. Sharrk's built-in calendar comes first because it is already included in every Sharrk plan, and Sharrk's AI agents can book into any of the three.

Is Cal.com's free plan better than Calendly's?
Yes, for a solo owner. Cal.com's free plan gives one user unlimited event types and calendars, email and SMS notifications, Stripe and PayPal payments and two-way Salesforce and HubSpot sync. Calendly's free plan is limited to one event type and one calendar connection, and reminders and payments start on its paid Standard plan.
For a plumber who wants separate booking types for "free estimate", "service call" and "maintenance visit", that difference decides it: Cal.com does it for $0, Calendly needs Standard.
When is Calendly the better choice?
Calendly makes sense when you already have a team on it, your customers recognize the booking page, or you want a polished, low-setup tool for round-robin across several estimators. Its Teams plan adds round-robin and team scheduling, routing forms that "qualify, route, & schedule leads", and Salesforce and HubSpot connections. Calendly's community team says SMS reminders are included on Standard, Teams and Enterprise, with a plan limit.
Cal.com covers the same team features on its Teams plan at a lower listed price, so the call comes down to familiarity versus cost.
Which one should you pick by business size?
| Business | Good fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo owner-operator | Cal.com Free | Unlimited event types and SMS notifications at $0 |
| 2 to 5 techs or estimators | Cal.com Teams or Calendly Teams | Both add round-robin and routing forms; Cal.com lists less per seat |
| Larger crews with an office team | Calendly Teams or Cal.com Organizations | Admin controls and routing for many seats |
| You want one place for calls, texts, leads and bookings | Sharrk's built-in calendar | Booking lives in the same CRM as every call and text |
A quick way to price it with made-up numbers: a 4-person estimating team on Calendly Teams at $16 a seat is $64 a month; on Cal.com Teams at $12 a user it is $48 a month on yearly billing. Check the live pricing pages before you buy, since both list yearly-billed rates first.
Does a booking link actually get jobs booked?
A link only works if the customer clicks it. Most home-service leads call or text, and they hire whoever answers first, which is why speed-to-lead software matters more than which calendar sits behind it.
That's where Sharrk comes in. Sharrk's AI receptionist answers every call 24/7 on the first ring, asks your qualifying questions and books the appointment while the caller is on the line. The AI text agent does the same inside the text thread, and new leads from Angi, Thumbtack, Networx, web forms and webhooks get a reply by text and call in under 30 seconds.
How does booking work with Sharrk?
- Pick your calendar. Use Sharrk's built-in calendar, or connect Calendly or Cal.com. Bookings can show on your Google Calendar.
- Set the rules. Choose which services can be booked, the questions to ask first and when to transfer to a person live (for example, when a caller asks or for emergencies you define).
- Let the agents book. The AI voice agent books on the call; the AI text agent books in the text thread. ServiceTitan users can book straight into ServiceTitan.
- Follow up automatically. Leads who don't book get a Strike: a sequence of calls, texts, emails and voicemail drops that stops the moment they reply or book, inside 8am to 8pm quiet hours in your timezone.
- Review it in the CRM. Every call has a summary and transcript, so you see why each job was booked. More on that in our guide to a CRM for home service businesses.
What does Mako do for scheduling?
Mako is the AI assistant inside Sharrk that builds anything for you from plain English. Tell it "book 1-hour estimates on my Cal.com calendar, ask for the address and roof age first, and transfer emergencies to my cell," and Mako builds the voice agent, the text agent and the follow-up Strike to match. It shows every change and waits for your OK before anything goes live, so you stay in control while Mako does the setup work.
